Campus Clean-Up Day

Spring is a time for renewal and rejuvenation. In keeping with this spirit, the Division of Administration is asking faculty, staff and students to support the “Campus Clean-up Day” event. The purpose of the event is to prepare the campus for the many visitors that we expect this spring leading up to Rensselaer’s 2008 Commencement activities.

The Campus Clean-up Day event is scheduled for Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM each day. The rain dates are Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25. Everyone who participates will receive a T-shirt.

Faculty and staff who want to participate are asked to contact Michelle Cassaro at ext.3320 or via e-mail at by COB Friday, April 11th and commit to working a maximum of a two (2) hour period of time. Those who participate between 9:00 AM and 12 Noon will be provided with lunch.

Employees must obtain the approval of his/her supervisor in order to participate. Supervisors and managers are encouraged to provide paid release time in order for employees to participate in this event, based on business operations and departmental needs. Hours spent on the project should be recorded as regular hours. All participation should be completed during an employee’s normal work schedule for that day.

The tasks include raking leaves, planting flowers, pulling weeds, and spreading mulch. The Environmental and Site Services Department will provide all necessary equipment (gloves, rakes, garbage bags and water) for participants.

All participants will sign in at the Campus Clean-up Day table located directly in front of the Mueller Center entrance. At the time of registration, employees will receive their work site location, t-shirt, gloves and bottled water. Tools will be available at the specific work sites. A site leader from the Landscape Department will be present at each location.

Let’s help keep our campus beautiful.
