Your Employee Status and Classification

Classification

Exempt employees are in positions classified as "exempt" from minimum wage guidelines and overtime pay.

Non-exempt employees are in positions classified as eligible for overtime pay and whose pay must meet the minimum wage guidelines and overtime pay requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.

Status

Regular Full Time -- Employees are scheduled to work a minimum of 1,560 hours (.75 FTE) per year on a continuing basis. Faculty are scheduled to work a minimum of 1,440 hours (.56 FTE) per year on a continuing basis.

Regular Part Time -- Employees are scheduled to work less than 1,560 hours (<.75 FTE) per year on a continuing basis. Faculty are scheduled to work less than 1,440 hours (<.56 FTE) per year on a continuing basis.

Fixed Term Full Time -- Employees are appointed for a specific period of time of no less than 16 weeks and are scheduled to work 40 hours per week.

Fixed Term Part Time -- Employees are appointed for a specific period of time of no less than 16 weeks and are scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and less than 40 hours per week.

Temporary Full Time -- Employees are scheduled to work 40 hours per week for less than 16 weeks, or on an as-needed basis.

Temporary Part Time -- Employees are scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week for less than 16 weeks, or on an as-needed basis.
