Ms. Melissa Walega has joined the Division of Human Resources as a Senior Human Resources Specialist and Title IX Coordinator. As an Institute Title IX Coordinator, Ms. Walega will conduct investigations regarding alleged violations of Human Resources Policy Guidelines, Title IX, Title VII, and the Sexual Misconduct Policy of Rensselaer. In addition, Ms. Walega will assist the Director of Employee Relations, Professional Development, and Title IX in adherence to federal, state, and local labor, employment, equal employment opportunity, and non-discrimination laws and regulations.
Ms. Walega most recently served as the Employee Relations Manager at Ellis Hospital. Ms. Walega was responsible for conducting confidential investigations, providing guidance to managers regarding organizational policies and procedures, developing and delivering labor relations training, and managing labor and employee relations operations.
Ms. Walega received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Sociology, from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Master of Science Degree in Human Resource Development from Villanova University. Ms. Walega holds a SHRM-CP certification awarded by the Society of Human Resource Management.
