Stage 1: Self-assessment

Self-assessment is the foundation of the career development process. In this stage, employees are encouraged to thoughtfully examine their strengths, values, interests, skills, and professional motivations. It’s also a chance to reflect on how your personal characteristics align with RPI’s values and what you prioritize in your own employee experience.

Why is this step important?

To gain clarity about who you are professionally—so your future goals, actions, and development plans are built on a strong, authentic foundation.

Consider what energizes you, where you excel, and what type of work feels most meaningful.

Values Alignment

This stage is grounded in RPI's core values of curiosity, impact, excellence, and community. Self-assessment helps employees align their personal goals with these shared principles—ensuring that growth is not only strategic, but values-driven.

Extended DISC is a self-assessment that measures how a person prefers to interact with others. DISC creates a common language and self-awareness to better understand ourselves and others. The DISC model divides people into four main behavioral styles. Individuals are identified as either People-oriented or Task-oriented and as either Reserved or Active. The DISC model is completely non-judgmental.  There is no “best” DISC style. The online DISC questionnaire takes only 10 minutes to complete. Individual and team discussions and workshop are available to process the assessment results.
