Remembrance of Charles Carhart

By Michael Johnson

Charles “Chuck” Carhart came to Rensselaer to join the Environmental Services department late in his long and eclectic career. His vast experiences, from being a veteran, working for MetLife, running a family restaurant, spending time as a nurse, and being the author of a children’s book gave him a plethora of stories he liked to share with others. Chuck also would frequently portray one of Santa’s “helpers” around the holidays, and those of us that knew him can attest this was a role he was well suited for. He was truly an interesting person to talk to, and known for his wry sense of humor and sarcastic wit. Chuck passed away after a lengthy illness and will be remembered by all who knew him.
