Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA)
Rensselaer employees have the right to continue current medical and dental coverage at the time of separation from Rensselaer for up to 18 months if separation is not for cause.
Family members, such as a spouse and dependent children, who lose coverage due to divorce or loss of dependency may continue coverage for up to 36 months, at a cost of 102% of the total coverage cost.
New York State Unemployment Insurance
This state-sponsored program provides Rensselaer employees with weekly payments, up to the maximum benefit determined by New York state, if they are no longer employed through no fault of their own.
Who is eligible?
Eligibility for this benefit is determined by state law. All separating Rensselaer employees should contact the New York State Department of Labor for a determination of their eligibility.
