Child and Elder Care

New England Nanny / Pinch Hitter Nanny Service

Child and elder care services, which are provided by New England Nanny, offer high-quality, in-home, back-up dependent care to Rensselaer employees on days when regular care is not available. This in-home service is available for employees’ children between six weeks and 13 years of age, or for an elderly parent who is mildly ill and needs to rest and recuperate at home. In addition, a Rensselaer employee may use the childcare service when their dependent child has a mildly contagious illness which would prevent attendance at his/her regular childcare arrangement, or when their child's school is closed due to holiday or other cancellation.

Elder care is available to an employee’s elderly parent for cases of sitting, providing chores, doing light housekeeping, and running errands. In addition, either service is available to employees for a work-approved function or work-related travel. However, please note that this program does not include transportation for either children or elders.

Because Rensselaer subsidizes the cost of this service as a family-friendly benefit, employees’ co-pay cost is $3/hour.

Registration for this service is required.  Interested employees should visit the Pinch Hitter Care to begin the registration process.

Employees who have any questions regarding this benefit, or who wish to request care for their child or elderly parent, can call (518) 453-1000 to speak to a representative at Pinch Hitter Back-up Dependent and Elder Care Services.

For even more information, please see the Pinch Hitter Brochure or visit the New England Nanny website.
